The History of Irrland
Irrland was created in 1999 as a sideline to a farm. The couple Johannes and Josefine Winkels-Tebartz van Elst started with a corn maze and a few discarded toys from their own children. Over time, a petting zoo, pony rides, and other play equipment were added. The park has been continuously expanded over the years. In 2010, the grounds and buildings of the neighboring flower and bird park "Plantaria" were also taken over, doubling the size of the park.
